We're still Studio-ing

Written 27 November 2007 by Graham Wright

Hello friends! I’m blogging less than I intended too, but its only because I’m actually busy making cool songs and stuff, so its a good thing.

Since my last missive, we’ve spent a good eight days in the studio. The first five or six were spent recording the drums, which is always the hardest part. Drums aren’t an easy instrument to play, especially for hours at a time, and you have to play everything perfectly. Poor Greg was put through his paces like a regular pack mule, but he was able to come out with some spectacular drum performances, which a pack mule would never have pulled off. Believe me, I’ve tried.

From there, we moved onto bass, and then keyboards, and then we started just putting random things on random songs when we felt like it. So we have some vocals done, some guitars done, and so on and so forth. If I had to guess, I’d say we’re around halfway done. And I’m pleased to report that everything is sounding wicked. I’m told that we’re now using every single microphone cable in the whole building, but we’re getting results! People keep asking me about the song Tesselate. Well, we’ve had a harder time with that song than any other song we’ve ever written, but we’ve finally got it. Everyone keeps saying it kicks ass, which is encouraging. It has a catchy keyboard riff written by Dave, and a boring keyboard riff written by me. But if anyone asks, I did it all because I’m great.

We watched that Metallica documentary today. I’m not really sure what else to say about that… If you’ve seen it, you know what I mean.

  9. Goddam this is a good band! It’s freaky how each instrument is played so well and interesting. Like a dish where you can taste four things at once and they’re all good and work well together. I hope they don’t listen to anyone and play what they like.
